Finding a Technology Supplier: How to Understand Capability

As a buyer, if you have decided on specific technology capability, it actually is pretty easy to find IT suppliers in the UK who can deliver on that specific vendor.  Capability however, in today’s complex world, can be more nuanced than understanding if  suppliers or embedded consultants can manage just the technology you need – as it’ll no doubt need to work in context of your broader technology estate.

For example, the IT team has decided they want to buy some Cisco networking equipment.  Searching for a Cisco Partner is fairly easy on Cisco’s partner website.  However, if you want an IT Supplier who not only can install your Cisco equipment, but make it work with your Microsoft cloud services, Oracle and Dell Servers, optimise traffic to your cloud services in Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud (GCP), you’ll need to look for all of these references in a suppliers bio.  Funnily enough, Cisco is unlikely to promote other technology vendors on their partner portal (like all vendors!).

Finding the Right IT Suppliers with Embedded Intelligence

Within Embedded Intelligence we search for 400 different technology references within an IT supplier’s web page and use that as a filter attribute to allow you to select suppliers or embedded consultants who are aware of (and likely have a capability in) each of the technologies you need.  Searching for “Cisco” initially, then filtering on Microsoft, Oracle, Dell, AWS and Google above is likely to give you a supplier who can consider your full estate as part of their solution, and maybe even provide broader services to allow you to consolidate supply.
